Fourth International Intercomparison Experiment of Nuclear Accident Dosimetry Systems - report on the measurements by B.A.R.C., India
- 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Div. of Radiation Protection
Description
The report gives the details of the participation of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, (BARC), Bombay (India) in the Fourth International Intercomparison Experiment of Nuclear Dosimetry Systems held at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Harwell, U.K., during April 1975 under the sponsorship of the IAEA. The pulsed fast reactor 'Viper'at Aldermaston was used for irradiations. Two experiments were conducted for different pluse sizes. Nuclear Accident Dosimetry System used by BARC included are a and personnel dosimeters for evaluation of neutron and gamma doses in free air and on phantoms. The highly degraded neutron spectrum from the reactor provided a severe test of dosimetry systems of the participating countries. BARC's neutron and gamma dose estimates are in good agreement with the expected values obtained by the U.K. Experimental Group by absolute methods. (author)
