Plasma heating by induced scattering of magnetosonic waves
Description
It is shown that, in a plasma with β less than or equal to 1 and T/sub e/T/sub i/ less than or equal to 4, parametric excitations of magnetosonic waves through nonlinear ion Landau damping may be utilized to heat both electrons and ions. Nonlinear saturation and associated plasma heating rate of this decay process are also considered
