Parallelization of particle codes for plasma simulation
Description
Parallel computing is promising for the scalable high speed execution of simulation codes with the number of processors. By the use of parallel computer, unimaginable progress in the plasma simulation can be expected. The method of parallelization of the PIC (particle in cell) code is illustrated. The distributed memory parallel computer with the message passing programming model is assumed. Also the parallelization of the three dimensional magneto-inductive gyrokinetic particle code with δf method, GYR3D, is described. The performance of vectorized GYR3D on SX-3/24R is compared with the performance of the parallelized GYR3D on Intel Paragon XP/S15-256. (author)
