A study on penetration depth of Au-implantation in peanut embryo

Description
An implanter with a metal vapor vacuum arc ion source (MEVVA) was employed to implant Au+ ions into peanut embryo. The methods of Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy and X-ray Energy Dispersive Analysis were adopted to measure depth distribution of Au in peanut embryo. The results show that the method of RBS is not capable for measuring the depth distribution because of uneven sample surface; on the contrary, the method of EDAX gives a penetration depth of 15 μm. By comparing to the unimplanted sample, obvious changes in morphologies were observed in implanted peanut embryo. The mechanism of mutagenic effects induced by ion implantation was briefly discussed
