Description

Optimal power flows (OPF) are the basic tools for the secure and economic operation of power system. This paper discusses the basic concepts on optimal power flow problem, modeling aspects and its general formulation as linear and non-linear optimisation problem. An objective oriented survey on main solution approaches used so for has been carried out with a view to have an insight in the established solution techniques for the solution of OPF problem.
