Flow in heavy ion collisions: from few 100 MeV/n to few 100 GeV/n
Description
An understanding of the collective flow effects is an important part of the study of heavy ion collisions program. The colliding nuclear matter emerges with a flow pattern that has its foundation in the amount of incompressibility of nuclear matter, or effect of mean fields, or some other probable dynamics, and subsequently influences the kinematic distribution of the final state particles. The explicit manifestation is different at different energies, and a measurement of the flow variables yields important dynamics information about the collision process
