Description
By using the new dating technique of ESR, the age of the elephant tooth has been estimated to be (1.6 ± 0.2) x 105 a. It was shown that only the enamel in tooth fossil is suitable to be datable by ESR. The tooth fossil investigated was found in a gravel deposit from Yue Hong river of Da Li county in Shanxi province, China. The thermal stability and mean-lifetime of trapped electrons at g = 2.0020 were also discussed
