Effect of Topas Fungicide on Tomato (Lycpersicon esculentum Mill) Plant

Fungicides are important for plants protection against harmful fungi. The present study demonstrates the effect of spraying tomato with Topas 100 (fungicide). Two cultivars of tomato (Super strain B and Nopan 2710) have been used in this work. The effect of fungicides on plants growth, photosynthetic pigments, carbohydrate, protein and amino acids contents, in addition to the electrophoretic patterns of proteins were studied. The results obtained revealed remarkable variations in all the studied parameters in the plants regularly sprayed with the fungicide, compared with corresponding controls. It was observed that, on decreasing the time between every spraying with the fungicide, the effects on the studied parameters were more increased. The results also indicated that the variety Super strain B was genwrally more sensitive to fungicide treatment than the cultivar Nopan 2710.
