Design, fabrication and construction of PWR nuclear islands
Description
Framatome is the most representative of companies for nuclear island. Its staff of up to 6000 has contributed to the commissioning of 57 pressurized water reactor (PWR) units up to the end of 1989. Eight others are in the course of completion. More recently, construction of the Daya Bay NPP has begun in the People's Republic of China, equipped with two Framatome 900MWe class nuclear islands limproved models of the 900MWe class units already built in France and abroad). The heavy nuclear components, manufactured by Framatome, are erected by a Framatome-Spie Batignolles consortium, with considerable participation by the Chinese Company No 23
