144,154Sm target preparation and characterization on Al-backing for Nuclear Physics Experiments at IUAC, New Delhi

Description
The stable isotopes of 144Sm and 154Sm nuclear experiential target are prepared for excitation functions studies with different projectile by using e-gun evaporation with Al backing and C capping. The thin isotropic samples are required to perform nuclear physics experiment. A very thin carbon capping is applied to prevent material getting oxidized and eventual deterioration of material itself. The multiple thickness samples are prepared with the wider stub placing in appropriate setup in e-gun high vacuum chamber. The thickness and uniformity is confirmed by Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) measurement and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) confirms there are no additional impurities during target preparation. The manuscript contained detailed description of large amount of target preparation at a single evaporation using minimum target material for nuclear reaction studies (Complete and/or Incomplete fusion) using e-gun evaporation and characterization using RBS and EDS.
