Experiences with commissioning and oraperation at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant
Description
The contribution of the Paks NPP to the world's electricity production by means of nuclear reactors is discussed. According to the new safety philosophy applied to the design of the reactors at Paks, technical improvements were done. The chronology of the construction from 1966 to the startup of the 4th unit in 1987 is given. According to the very high availabilities and very low environmental contamination, operational experiences are regarded favourable. In Hungary nuclear plants proved to be more economic for the generation of electricity than fossil-fuel plants. (V.N.) 17 figs
