Method of eliminating chloride ions in radioactive liquid wastes

Description
Purpose: To efficiently eliminate chloride ions in radioactive liquid wastes by removing crud that interfer the adsorption of chloride ions. Constitution: The crud in seawater-containing or regenerated-liquid waste from a desalinator contained in a liquid-wastes tank is removed with a remover such as a centrifugator or filter and then entered into a receiving tank. Then, the liquid is passed through a chlorine-adsorbent tower filled with a bismuth compound to eliminate chloride ions. Thereafter, the liquid wastes are sent to a neutralization tank to adjust the pH thereof and then concentrated and de-volumed in an evaporating condenser and discharged to a liquid waste storage tank. On the other hand, the bismuth compound adsorbing thereon a saturation amount of chloride ions in the chlorine adsorbent tank is discharged as sludge wastes and then solidified after being applied with the separation steps such as settling separation, centrifugal separation and dewatering. Since chloride ions can thus be removed effectively, an evaporating condensation process for the liquid wastes is possible and various radioactive nucleides can be eliminated completely.
