High-strength aging austenitic steels

Description

Described are the dispersion-hardening austenitic steels, made on the basis of the manganese-nickel solid solution. Given are the data regarding the changing of the strength, plasticity and viscosity of the steels, depending on the quantity of the VC disperse carbides released in the process of ageing at 650 deg C. It is shown that the vanadium nitride (VN) particles, liberated in the process of the austenitic steels ageing, ensure a much bigger strength increment, despite the plasticity reduction, which is the same, as in the case of the vanadium carbide. The high strength of the austenitic Mn-Ni steels is ensured during ageing at the expense of the combined carbide (VC++M6C) and carbide-intermetallic compound (VC+NiAl) strengthening
