Description
Monte Carlo calculations showing the difficulty of using neutron slowing-down times in identification of minerals for mining applications (presented by other authors in a recent publications) may lead to misinterpretation of the results for oil and gas well logging. Epithermal neutron lifetime logging is viable for hydrogen (or formation porosity) measurement even though it has limitations for minerals identification through resonance capture γ-rays. (Author)
