Microstructure and properties of superconductive Zr-ZrV2 eutectic composite

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kharkov. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

Effect of the directed crystallization rate v upon microstructure of Zr-ZrV2 pure eutectics and eutectics with niobium and iron additions is investigated. It is shown that characteristics of eutectic microstructure are determined by the rate value. Composition of the eutectics formed in the Zr-V system corresponds to vanadium concentration of 27.3+-0.3 wt %. The volumetric part of ZrV2 in the eutectics constitutes 45.7+-1.9%. It is established that in a wide range of crystallization rates the Zr-ZrV2 eutectics samples have a structure of colonies of prismatic shape. Niobium or iron substitution for a part of vanadium results in qualitative changes in the microstructure
