Description
Within the SERF 1997-1998 (Socio-economic Research on Fusion) project, environmental externalities of a potential fusion power plant were evaluated by applying the ExternE methodology. All the stages of the fuel cycle were considered in order to evaluate their main environmental impacts. Once the damages caused by these impacts were identified, an economic valuation was carried out. The results of this valuation (externalities assessment) are presented in this paper together with a comparison of external costs between different fossil fuel cycles. (author)
