Determination of the Np(IV)-Np(III) normal potential in fused LiCl-CsCl (55-45%) by absorption spectrophotometry
Description
The following reaction Np4+ + 1/2 H2 + Cl- reversible Np3+ + HCl has been studied quantitatively in fused LiCl-CsCl (55-45 mol %) in the temperature range of 450-6000 C, by visible and near IR absorption spectrophotometry. At 450 deg C, the equilibrium constant equals K = 7.4 atmsup(1/2). The mean values of ΔH and ΔS in the temperature range of 450-600 deg C are: ΔH = (35.6+-10.3) kJ mol-1, ΔS=(65.5+-13.0)J mol-1 K-1

La spectrophotometrie d'absorption visible et proche IR a permis d'etudier, de maniere quantitative et a differentes temperatures, la reaction Np4+ + 1/2 H2 + Cl- reversible Np3+ + HCl dans le melange LiCl-CsCl (55-45%mol) fondu. A 450 deg C, la constante d'equilibre relative a cette reaction vaut K=7,4atmsup(1/2). Les valeurs moyennes de ΔH et ΔS dans le domaine de temperature allant de 450 a 600 deg C valent: ΔH=(35,6+-10,3) kJ mol-1, ΔS=(65,5+-13,0) J mol-1 K-1Additional details
