Material behaviour of rock salt under short-time dynamic loads (seismic analysis of underground cavities). Final report. Part project II

The ANSALT finite-element program was extended to allow dynamic non-linear calculations. With this program version an appropriate tool was created for assessing the suitability of abandoned salt mines for final disposal of radioactive wastes. Two computer-controlled servohydraulic material testing machines were set up in a laboratory to study the behaviour of rock salt with special attention given to micro-crack propagation. For in-situ investigations, specific borehole measuring units were developed, a digital seismic recording instrument with 64 channels was installed, and data logging programs were established. (DG)
