Description

The Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) supports a large and successful program of research in many areas of nuclear science. As the smaller accelerators in the United States have ceased to operate, an increasing fraction of the national program in nuclear science is concentrated at such large facilities. In this paper, the author describes the accelerator and beam lines, outlines a few striking new results, presents some operational statistics and provides some information on how to begin or join collaborative research at LAMPF
