Radiation source for medical purposes
Description
The 60Co radiation source is applied within a standard radiation gun. In order to make it as point-shaped as possible but nevertheless to obtain a specific activity between 300 and 500 curies per gram shielding material with a density of more than 10 g/cm3 encloses the actual cylindrical radiation body. For shielding material there may be used unalloyed or unplated uranium or a tungsten alloy. The shielding material and the radiation body are placed in two concentrical sleeves from stainless steel. Die Co-60 Strahlenquelle wird in einer genormten Strahlenkanone eingesetzt. Um sie moeglichst punktfoermig auszufuehren, jedoch eine spezifische Aktivitaet von 300 bis 500 Curie/g zu erhalten, umgibt Abschirmmaterial einer Dichte von mehr als 10 g/cm3 den eigentlichen zylinderfoermigen Strahlenkoerper. Als Abschirmmaterial eignet sich unlegiertes oder implattiertes Uranmetall oder eine Wolframlegierung. Das Abschirmmaterial und der Strahlenkoerper sitzen in zwei konzentrischen Buechsen aus nichtrostendem Stahl. (DG)Files
