Possibilities and limitations of the SPECT technique

Description
When using a rotating gamma camera as a SPECT system it is necessary to be aware of the limitations to the measuring technique and its susceptibility to interfering factors. The collimator, radius of rotation, number of angular steps, size of the imaging and reconstruction matrix, the reconstruction filter, and the number of pulses per slice are parameters that can be selected arbitrarily, and their influence on the system performance is more or less important. The correlations are explained on the basis of phantom images. (orig.)

Bei Anwendung der rotierenden Gammakamera als SPECT-System muss man sich in besonderem Masse der messtechnischen Grenzen und deren Beeinflussbarkeit bewusst sein. Kollimator, Rotationsradius, Zahl der Winkelschritte, Groesse der Aufnahme- und Rekonstruktionsmatrix, Rekonstruktionsfilter und schliesslich Zahl der gemessenen Impulse pro Schicht sind frei waehlbare Groessen, die mehr oder weniger entscheidenden Einfluss auf die Leistung des Systems haben. Anhand von Phantomaufnahmen werden die Zusammenhaenge erlaeutert. (orig.)Additional details
