Description
The whole core simulations are one of the most CPU intensive calculations in reactor physics design and analyses. For a designer it is imperative to perform these calculations with good accuracy and in least time possible to try out various options. With the arrival of large computing power, researcher can afford to reduce the approximations involved while using the latest numerical techniques in tandem. In the present article, some of such methods used for efficient simulation of reactor core are described. Moreover, the article also discusses the recent advances made in the parallelization a CPU intensive code ATES3 on BARC's parallel systems and the initial results obtained. (author)
