Intrinsic magnetic properties of Nd(Fe,M)12 (M=V,Ti,Mo) with H, C and N interstitials

Description
The influence of interstitial H, C and N atoms on the intrinsic magnetic properties of Nd(Fe,M)12 (M=V,Ti,Mo) compounds has been studied. Various contents of interstitial atoms were introduced into the ThMn12-type crystal structure of the parent compounds by gas-solid reaction. The relationships between the changes of magnetic quantities such as anisotropy field Ha, saturation magnetization Js, and Curie temperature Tc and structural properties are discussed with respect to the type of stabilizing element M. For all three kinds of interstitial atoms the uniaxial anisotropy of the parent compounds is retained. The intrinsic magnetic properties are improved for all types of M atoms, with nitrogen as the interstitial atom showing the greatest effect. (orig.)
