Main radiation protection regulatory provisions applicable in medical and dental radiology. October 2019 update

Description

This document is an update of a previous version published in 2016. Its aim is to give an overview of the regulation framework to physicians, radiologists, dental surgeons, medical personnel employers, and persons with abilities in radioprotection. It lists, first, the new regulatory dispositions (ordinances, decisions, recommendations, decrees) published since the previous version. Then, it presents the main regulatory changes linked with the transposition of the directive 2013/59/Euratom of December 5, 2013: new dispositions of the labor code regarding workers protection (risk evaluation, organisation of radiation protection, delimitation and signalling of restricted areas, verification of protection means efficiency, individual monitoring of occupational exposure, eye lens limit exposure), and the new dispositions of the public health code regarding patients and population protection (justification of new practices, patients radioprotection training, quality assurance in medical imaging, creation of the medical physicist profession, diagnostic reference levels, administrative regimes, radiation protection adviser, controls performed by approved bodies)
