Effect of interferon on the unspecific radioresistance of white mice to x-rays

Description
Intraperitoneal administration of the interferonogen, poly I:C, at 0.2 or 2.0 mg/kg to mice 2 hr or 1 day before exposure to x-irradiation protected the animals as long as the dose of irradiation did not exceed 600 R. When poly I:C was also administered one every 4 days after irradiation, survival was increased to an even greater extent than when it was given only as a preteatment
