Investigations into the resuspension of plutonium in the biosphere

In order to compare the resuspension behaviour of Pu with that of other elements, inactive elements were included into the investigations. The following measurements were made: 1. Determination of Pu surface contamination of the ground and of surface concentration of the inactive elements; 2. vertical distributions of the elements in the atmosphere; 3. particle size distributions of the elements; 4. element correlations; 5. determination of resuspension parameters. The measurements were made over a longer period of time in order to detect changes of Pu and of the inactive elements in terms of time and space. With the same resuspension behaviour of Pu and inactive elements, the latter, because of their quick determinability, could serve as model elements to predict Pu behaviour. (orig.)
