Positron annihilation in a homologous series of liquid crystals

Description
Positron lifetime spectra have been measured for three members of 4,4'-di-n-alkoxyazoxybenzenes, a homologous series of nematic liquid crystals. The lifetime spectra were measured as a function of temperature from solid to isotropic liquid phase, and resolved into a maximum of four lifetime components. The observed behavior of the resolved annihilation parameters can be interpreted in terms of changes in the intermolecular forces. (Auth.)
