Influence of real structure features on fast neutron induced amorphization of titanium nickelide
- 1. Inst. Fiziki Metallov UrO RAN, Ekaterinburg (Russian Federation)
Description
Earlier developed model of amorphous titanium nikelide structural state resulted from fast neutron irradiation is experimentally tested. Structural states of Ti49N51 specimens with various concentrations of defects are analyzed using thermal neutron diffraction method before and after irradiation by a 6x1019 cm-2 fluence. The results obtained support the view that the intensity of amorphization is higher in the alloy with a higher initial density of defects, because in each microscopic area damaged by atom collision cascades the sum of initial and radiation induced defects reaches its critical level more easily
