The radiosensitivity of the brain during the postnatal development: the olfactory bulb, the dentate gyrus, the cerebellum

Description

In the olfactory bulb of the young rabbits irradiation induces pycnotic cells in the subependymal layer with some ones scattered in the granular layer. The cytological and autoradiographic study allows to say that the radiosensitive cells are precursors of granular and glial cells. The proliferative source is the subependymal layer of the lateral ventricle. The characteristics of three proliferative layers: the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus, the external granular layer of the cerebellum and the subependymal layer of the olfactory bulb, are compared

Abstract (French)

L'irradiation induit dans le bulbe olfactif du jeune lapin la presence de cellules pycnotiques rassemblees dans la couche subependymaire avec quelques-unes dispersees dans la couche granulaire. L'etude cytologique et l'etude autoradiographique montrent que ces cellules radiosensibles sont des cellules immatures, mitotiques ou migratrices qui participent a la formation de nouvelles cellules granulaires et gliales. La couche proliferative a l'origne de ces cellules indifferenciees est la couche subependymaire du ventricule lateral. On compare les caracteristiques des couches proliferatives du bulbe olfactif, du gyrus dentatus et du cervelet
