Reaction of lanthanum and nickel carbonates in aqueous medium

Description

The system La2(CO3)3 - NiCO3 - H2O and certain fragments of the systems Ni(OH)2 - NiCO3 - H2O and LaNiO2.5 - CO2 - H2O were studied by the method of isothermal crystallization at 20 Deg C. Compounds La2(CO3)3 · 8H2O, LaNi5(CO3)6.5 · xH2O and Ni(CO3)0.6(OH)0.8 · 3H2O and solid solutions on the basis of lanthanium carbonated and lanthanum/nickel mixed carbonates were detected in the system. Reduction of LaNi5(CO3)6.5 · xH2O gave rise to intermetallic compound LaNi5, which compares favorably with cast alloy LaNi5 in terms of its characteristics

Abstract (Russian)

Методом изотермической кристаллизации при 20 град С изучена система La2(CO3)3 - NiCO3 - H2O и отдельные фрагменты систем Ni(OH)2 - NiCO3 - H2O и LaNiO2.5 - CO2 - H2O. В системе обнаружены соединения La2(CO3)3 · 8H2O, LaNi5(CO3)6.5 · xH2O и Ni(CO3)0.6(OH)0.8 · 3H2O и твердые растворы на основе карбоната лантана и смешанных карбонатов лантана и никеля. Восстановлением LaNi5(CO3)6.5 · xH2O получено интерметаллическое соединение LaNi5, неуступающее по своим характеристикам литому сплаву LaNi5
