Oxygen-doping effect on spin correlations in La2NiO4+δ

Description
We performed neutron scattering experiments on single crystals of La2NiO4.11 and La2NiO4.125. The dynamical intralayer spin correlations are depressed by oxygen doping and essentially independent of ordering of the excess oxygen atoms. The characteristic feature of the spin-wave in oxygen-doped La2NiO4 is that a sharp spin-wave mode exists in the lower-energy region with the reduction of the exchange interaction. Experimental results indicate that the average intralayer interaction of spin correlations is controlled by the number of holes induced by oxygen doping. (orig.)
