Kinematically complete imaging of the three-body break up of CO2''3''+ created by slow highly charged ion impact

Description
The three-body break up of CO2''3''+ has been investigated in a kinematically complete experiment. We are able to separate various dissociation pathways like synchronous, asynchronous and sequential fragmentation. We find that the various mechanism correlate to distinct excitation energies of the CO2''3''+.
