Chapter 14. Systems of identical particles

Description
For the systems of identical particles it is necessary to introduce the postulate of symmetrization to describe quantum systems. Physical implications of this postulate are presented: bosons, fermions and Pauli exclusion principle; quantum statistics; interferences between direct process and exchange process. Permutation operators are also exposed. In complement are studied: approximation of central field, electron configurations, energy levels of helium atom (configurations, terms, multiplets), physical properties of electron gas (application to solids)

En mecanique quantique il est necessaire d'introduire le postulat de symetrisation pour decrire les systemes de particules identiques. On presente les implications physiques de ce postulat: bosons, fermions et principe d'exclusion de Pauli, statistiques quantiques, interferences entre processus direct et processus d'echange Les operateurs de permutation sont aussi presentes. En complement on etudie: l'approximation du champ central, configurations elecroniques, niveaux d'energie de l'atome d'helium (configurations, termes, multiplets), proprietes physiques d'un gaz d'electrons (application aux solides)Additional details
