Description

Diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS's) are characterized for having semiconducting and magnetic properties simultaneously besides dopants in diluted semiconductor matrix. Devices based on DMS's have the ability to promove integration between memory and processing in a single device, resulting in considerable improvements in data processing. However, the route of obtaining these materials have an important character in the characteristics obtained. Where the same formulation may exhibit different properties depending on the processing route. In this work, a concentration 0.04 mol of Cobalt Ions (Co2+) was incorporated into a matrix of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) using the technique of the combustion reaction. The powder obtained and subsequently screened was characterized by the diffraction x-ray (XRD) to verify the formation of crystalline phase only and visible ultraviolet (UV-VIS) to obtain the value of the energy gap, and the dynamics of the reaction have been put in the form of a graph (temperature vs time). It was possible to observe the formation of a single crystalline phase and minor reduction in the value of energy gap, demonstrating the viability of the combustion process. (author)
