Kinematic fitting of neutral current events
Description
A new method to determine the scaling variables x and y in neutral current events at HERA is described. It is shown that the resolution of these variables can be improved considerably by constraining the scattered electron and hadron momenta to energy-momentum conservation. Initial state radiation from the incoming electron is included and the radiated photon's energy can be estimated with good precision. (orig.)
