Polarizinq neutronguide on the base of multilayer mirrors

Description

The effectiveness is studied of using multilayer ionizing mirrors as the elements of a polarizing neutron guide. This guide is made using polished glass plates with a sputter deposited 50 Co 50 Fe and Ti-Gd alloy absorbing sublayer. The neutron guide was tested on a WWR-M type reactor. The fluxes measured were (8+-0.8)x107 n/cm2s at the inlet of the neutron guide and (6.7+-0.7)x166 n/cm2s at its outlet. Neutron spectra were recorded at the inlet and polarized neutron spectra at the outlet as well as the spectral polarization distribution. The results obtained show that the use of multilayer polarizing mirrors in neutron guide techniques to obtain highly polarized neutron beams is very promising
