Low-temperature specific heats of lanthanum and gadolinium sesquicarbides

Description
Specific heat of La2C3 and Gd2C3 were measured through the adiabatic calorimetry method. Basic thermodynamic functions of the compounds studied under standard conditions are obtained. Significant anomaly of specific heat was identified in Gd2C3 with the maximum at 130 K. The entropy and enthalpy of this anomaly are determined. 9 refs., 1 fig., 3 tabs
