Description
Based on cell cycle analysis by flow cytometry on isolated mononuclear cells from bone marrow and spleen, dose-dependent alterations after radiation as well as after chemical treatment have been observed in C3H mice. Cells from the hemopoetic system are easily available and are ideally suited as biological endpoints for a biological dose determination in men. Such cells are also suitable for measurement of the additive or synergistic effect of two or more treatments at the same time. Based on computer analysis of two-parameter DNA/RNA measurements, alterations in the cell cycle kinetics can be monitored at as low as 80 rads whole-body radiation in mice
