Description
Energy multiplication may be obtained with an energetic ion beam and a plasma target with hot electrons and cold ions. This configuration has been studied for D-T reactions in tokamak geometry and the maximum possible fusion energy is about four times the beam energy. Several configurations based on intense neutralized ion beams are considered and it is shown that an energy multiplication factor of about 20 is possible. (author)
