Macroeconomic effects of a revival in energy transition - Note

Description

This note reports and discusses results of a modelling of macroeconomic effects of a revival in energy transition as the one published by the I4CE (Institute for Climate Economy). The ThreeMe model has been used. The note first discusses investment needs in energy transition. It outlines that additional public expenses rely on the implementation of additional non-budgetary measures, that the I4CE plan addresses 3 key sectors (energy renovation, mobility, renewable electric power) which are herein discussed. It discusses the integration of this revival plan into the ThreeMe model. The next part discusses the possibility of a double ecological and economic dividend: discussion of the impact of the revival plan in terms of energy consumption and carbon print, and in macroeconomic terms (revival by a multiplying effect of investments, decrease of energy expenses, trade balance affected in volume but few in value, positive effects on jobs, improvement of public finances)
