A perspective of Japanese energy security and greenhouse policies
Description
As Japan is Australia's major trading partner in energy, any new directions in Japanese energy policy may have the potential to influence Australia's energy market prospects even further. However it is estimated that Japan is unlikely to take sharp unilateral actions to curb greenhouse gas emissions, but it is likely to take a leading role in transferring energy efficient technologies to developing regions. It is also expected that Australian liquefied natural gas exports to Japan may grow. In contrast, bilateral trade in coal and uranium is likely to show only relatively modest expansion. 19 refs,, 4 tabs; 6 figs
