Description
While solitary iliac aneurysms (SIA) are rare, a mortality rate ranging from 20% to 57% has been reported when rupture occurs. We herein describe the current surgical treatment of SIA based on our experience in management of SIA, and also review the cases of SIA reported in Japanese literature. Early diagnosis including concomitant diseases and early treatment are crucial. The patients with SIA after elective operation may have good long-term survival, and close follow-up is also necessary to survey the formation of new aneurysm or anastomotic aneurysm. (author)
