Elastic and inelastic scattering of electrons from sodium atom using Glauber approximation
Creators
Description
The Glauber approximation has been applied to study the elastic and the inelastic scattering of electrons from sodium atoms. Adopting a frozen core approximation the total integrated elastic scattering cross section from the ground state of the sodium atoms and the inelastic scattering cross section for the resonance transition (3s-3p) in the sodium atoms are calculated and compared with other theoretical calculations and with the experimental data. With the frozen core assumption and the Glauber approximation, the calculated elastic and inelastic cross sections for the electron sodium atom collisions agree better with experimental data than the results of calculations based on the Born and the close coupling approximations.
