The theoretical simulation of the trace 123Xe measurement in the gaseous fission products by HPGe
- 1. Northwest institute of nuclear technology, Xi'an (China)
Description
The influence of gaseous fission products on the trace 123Xe measurement by HPGe was analyzed by applying MCNP. The results indicate that the direct measurement of 123Xe in the gaseous sample is impossible. 123I, the daughter of 123Xe, can be determined by HPGe, the proposed method is: first, the sample decays for 6.59 hours without Kr/Xe separation; then the gases are separated from the sample; next, the sample decays for 2 hours; finally, 123I in the sample can be measured by HPGe.
