Description

Two strategies are proposed for district heating systems in Prague. In the one, the district heating systems on the right bank of the Vltava river are connected to the basic heat delivery from the Melnik power plant, 40 km from Prague. In the other strategy, heat supply from Prague sources solely is considered. The current situation is assessed and a heat consumption forecast till 2010 is presented. The energy and cost aspects of the two options are compared. The specific heat costs are estimated to 670 and 720 CZK/MWh for the two strategies, respectively. (J.B.). 1 tab., 3 figs
