Isotope fractionation under simulated space conditions
- 1. Scripps Institution of Oceanography, La Jolla, Calif. (USA)
Description
Observations of isotope fractionation in the interstellar cloud medium and in meteorites are reviewed briefly. Laboratory experiments have been performed to study fractionation of nitrogen isotopes at 77 K in the plasma reaction system (14N15N)+O. The results are applied to a discussion of the formation history of meteorites and the chemistry of dense interstellar clouds. (R.S.)
