Magnetic susceptibility and electron spin resonance of uranium pentachloride

  • 1. Osaka Univ., Suita (Japan). Faculty of Engineering

Description

Magnetic susceptibility of UCl5 showed a monotonic increase with lowering of temperature from room temperature to liquid helium temperature in spite of its dimer structure. The magnetic susceptibility, the g-value and the electronic spectra were simultaneously explained on the basis of crystal field model of the octahedral symmetry with a small C sub(2v) distortion.
