Decontamination of structural materials in the primary circuit of a CANDU NPP

Description
The aim of this work was studying the behavior of structural materials in the primary circuit of a CANDU NPP during dynamical decontamination by means of CAN-DECON procedure. The experiments were conducted by means of samples of carbon steel type SA 106 gr.B and 403m which after being oxidized in autoclaves in conditions specific for the CANDU primary circuit, were subject to decontamination. The composition and the quality of superficial films formed on the surfaces of samples as well as of those remnant on decontaminated samples were examined by metallographic microscopy, ESCA and electrochemical methods
