Molecular structure in 12C + 12C, orbiting in 12C + 28Si, and first studies of the 60Ni + 60Ni interaction

  • 1. Oak Ridge National Lab., TN (USA). Physics Div.

Description

In the present paper, we discuss some physical implications of a recently proposed classification scheme for the 12C + 12C Coulomb barrier resonances for which the requisite very large body of experimental data is already available. We then present new data suggesting that the back angle resonance-like structure previously observed in quasi-elastic 28Si + 12C reactions reflects the existence of a fully developed, rotating di-nuclear system that governs back-angle yields in many additional exit channels. Finally, we discuss briefly some very recent data for 60Ni + 60Ni scattering in a first look at a previously unstudied region of the periodic table. (orig./HSI)
