Electron density and temperature in a low pressure Na-Ne discharge deduced from laser absorption
- 1. Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken N.V., Eindhoven (Netherlands). Forschungslaboratorium
Description
The radial distribution of sodium ground state atoms in the positive column is measured with dye laser absorption. Combining the measured electrical conductivity of the discharge with a particle balance equation the electron density ne and temperature Te are deduced. Results are compared with Langmuir probe measurements and show agreement for Te within 500 K. For ne discrepancies of a factor of four are observed. (author)
